Other lighting technologies for art galleries and museums

Due to the research on the problem of artificial lighting in art galleries over the years, both general lighting and local lighting technology have made considerable progress. General lighting must take into account the light from windows or skylights. The current trend is to basically exclude natural lighting and rely mainly on easy-to-control and stable artificial lighting sources.
Wall lamps This type of light is often used for murals, tapestries, or pictures. When using fluorescent lamps, they should generally be kept at a certain offset from the wall so that the exhibits can get the best light distribution. A 3:1 illumination difference is a more stringent requirement, but a 10:1 illumination difference is often acceptable. Excessive offset will cause mirror reflections on glass surfaces or glossy exhibits. If you want to block the light source in your sight, you can use a low-sided Reflector, but the angle between the upward light and the vertical line should not be greater than 30°. The most important thing for places using this type of wall lamp is not to make the wall too bright and the ceiling too dark, so as to avoid an inappropriate brightness contrast between the two surfaces.

Eaves Trough Lighting The ceilings of many exhibition rooms are often decorated with carvings and paintings, and they are often required to be illuminated. This technology depends on whether the exhibition hall has ready-made eaves available. If there are no eaves, a special eaves trough can be made. This lamp should be installed as low as possible so that the light shining on the ceiling can be evenly distributed.

For exhibition rooms that are already equipped with wall lamps, adding the light of the eaves trough can properly balance the brightness of the ceiling and the wall, and at the same time, it can also be used as ambient lighting through the role of the Reflector. When designing this kind of eaves lamp, it should be noted that when the light output is maximum, the light source cannot be directly seen from a normal viewing angle.

Showcase lighting There are many related aspects regarding the appropriate illumination required for exhibits in glass showcases, including the need to exclude unnecessary reflections and the control of heat generated by incandescent or fluorescent lamps as mentioned above.
