Control lighting and navigation lighting - road signals and signage

For this reason, the current regulations and recommendations for signals and signs require that the brightness of signs be increased in places where they are obviously difficult to identify.

Traffic lights Traffic lights generally use shock-resistant common voltage 65-watt bulbs and simple parabolic Reflector lampshades. Prismatic mirrors made of calibrated color materials are used in front of the shading, and measures should be taken to eliminate the "phantom light" effect. The term "phantom light" refers to the phenomenon that the signal light reflects some external light (perhaps daylight) and causes people to mistakenly think that the signal light is shining.

Road signs Road signs must be properly illuminated, easy to see, but not too bright to cause glare. The light should be as uniform as possible and easy to see when the lights are not on during the day. The choice of light source for sign lighting depends to a certain extent on the size of the sign. One-size fluorescent lamps and small fluorescent lamps are good light sources for internal and external lighting of signs. Their size, luminous efficiency and life are suitable for this application. Traffic departments require that the color of fluorescent lamps should preferably be natural light or cool white. And control devices that can be activated at low temperatures should be selected.

Belisha beacon This is one of the earliest flashing road signs used, often used for pedestrian crossings.

Unscheduled signs and variable marking signs Highway traffic has an increasing need for the following types of signs: warning signs for expressways, signs indicating variable speed limits, and traffic control devices used at irregular intervals.
