The resonant radiation spectrum of xenon atoms is at 146.9nm and 129.5nm, located in the vacuum ultraviolet region. Its radiation spectrum is completely continuous. The intensity exceeds that of hydrogen arc
external radiation source.
In the near-infrared region, high-pressure xenon discharge has many strong line spectra, which are the radiation generated by the transition of atoms between higher energy levels.
High-pressure krypton (Kr) discharge also has a strong line spectrum near 800nm, which coincides with the absorption spectrum of neodymium-activated yttrium aluminum garnet, so krypton lamp can be used as the light source of this laser.
