Medical and sanitary light sources——UV lamp
Light has a very important relationship with human health. If people are exposed to too much ultraviolet light, they will develop diseases. However, light can also treat people's diseases, especially skin diseases.
1. Phototherapy for skin diseases
In 1974, Fitzpatrick used a combination of drugs and near-ultraviolet radiation to treat vitiligo (idiopathic vitiligo). Sams has achieved good results using ultraviolet light to treat psoriasis (schizophrenia). It is effective to irradiate white spots and psoriasis with a light source with a wavelength of 340~400nm (high-pressure mercury lamp, indium lamp or gallium lamp).
2. Phototherapy for neonatal jaundice
Neonatal jaundice has a very high mortality rate and is an icteric coloration of the central nucleus of the brain and the medulla oblongata. Moreover, the sequelae include brain disorders, kidney and digestive tract damage. In the past, the treatment method was blood transfusion and blood transfusion. In 1958, Gremer initially proposed the use of light therapy. In 1968, Lueey achieved clinical results, using green fluorescent lamps and green-white or daylight-colored fluorescent lamps. Gallium iodide and indium lamps can also be used for treatment.
The above briefly introduces some typical light sources for photochemistry. Photochemical reaction technology is still developing, and for this reason, we look forward to the corresponding development and progress of light sources.
