Hospital ward lighting

Ward lighting generally includes:

(1) General lighting fixtures: Strict glare control is applied to both suspended and ceiling-mounted lamps.

(2) Bedside lamps: Mainly used for reading and occasional use by nurses, this lamp is generally equipped with a tungsten filament bulb. This lamp is allowed to move horizontally to a large extent, but should be limited to 10° in the vertical direction to prevent the direct light or reflected image of the bulb from being directly seen by other patients. For this type of wall-mounted lamp (O-type) with a 30° beam angle, the height requirement is 2 meters. For lamps in children's wards, it is recommended to use ceiling lamps.

(3) Guardian lighting: The purpose is to guard patients with more serious conditions. Very low-power bulbs are used, and are generally used as part of bedside lamps.

(4) Night lights: Mainly used to ensure safety after general lighting is turned off. Usually, a 15-watt small bulb is installed in the general lighting fixture of the ward. The illuminance value at the head of the bed is required not to exceed the limit of 0.1 lux.

(5) Inspection lamp: This is a temporary device that requires a higher illumination than general lighting or reading lamps. It is usually portable or portable, and some are equipped with a wire slot socket behind the bedside, which can be plugged in at any time.

(6) Nursing station lighting: It is usually installed in a key position, and the illumination is required to be 300 lux during the day and no more than 30 lux at night. It is sometimes used as a component of general lighting, so its illumination value is the same as the general lighting in the ward.
